The cost of caregiving

Nearly 100 million Americans care for an aging parent, friend, family member, spouse, or disabled child. This labor of love is fraught with challenges as these caregivers pour their time, energy, and finances into helping others. 

For example:

• The average caregiver spends $7,242 a year to support their loved one
• 57% of caregivers report clinical levels of stress, depression, or anxiety
• 20% of caregivers say that their work as a caregiver has impacted their employment

In our cost of care infographic, we decided to put some numbers behind these stories to demonstrate the impact of caregiving on individuals and communities, and to shed light on how we can support the men and women devoting their lives to caring for others.
